A NOTE TO MY FUTURE SELF

“A Letter to my future self”

Hello, their 27 years old Gabbie of the future, you must be someone great now. A lawyer of honor and dignity that is well respected by the society. You must be a Filipino magnate right now a very influential person that helps and inspires people to be like you. But how are you now Gabbie? Did you accomplished doing our business dreams? To establish “Filography” and the “Hi-App” as well as the Onion and vegetable dealership business that we are planning? For someone like you, you probably did it and even exceed our own expectations and you are probably stock market rich.

If you ask me what I am doing right now, I will say I am fine myself as expected of you. In here today, as I was writing this very special letter, I am in Grade 12 taking the course of HUMSS in Siena College of Taytay. I really enjoy the studies and learnings I have in school. You see I really love politics, history, and social sciences. In which I guess you still love those things as you are a great lawyer there. Did you know that I am registering my first voting ID this year 2021?

Yeah… it was very troublesome and hectic you know. You probably still remembered the lines of people in the registration sites. Man! It was so long! And I was cut off several times when I arrived in the centers at least 4 times in one week. But let me tell you a story, there was this time in Angono, Rizal in which I go to the COMELEC office to register. Well, you see I was there 2 hours before the call time which was at 8:00 AM and I fall in line there until 9:00 AM.  Then when I get to the finish line my files have been rejected! Because I live in Binangonan, Rizal and the only people accepted in The Angono COMELEC would be its own citizens. Oh, dear God! that was exhausting and disappointing, I fall in line there for 3 hours and yet I failed.

From that point, I learned my lesson to not be negligent and always be informed ahead of time. I hope you are more responsible now Gabbie. And Who did you vote in 2022? Did the president of your time do a great job?

Did you know that Mommy, is a Ph.D. now, and in your time Mommy’s probably an international speaker there?  By the way, How’s Mommy there? Is she eating well? Shouting and alive? I suppose I bet she was. Mom’s here still the same but except for the lots of paperwork that we do here. How’s Daddy? Is he still stubborn and not following the doctor’s advice? Hoh... please tell Dad to take care of his Health. And, how about Dan and Raf? Are they good? They probably have families and are professionals now. And, for you Gabbie, always stay safe, keep yourself healthy and always trust in God, okay?

COVID’s bad here in 2021, there are too many people dying and many of our family members are getting affected. I hope that in your time there is no COVID, and the healthcare system of our country is at best! Gabbie be strong and keep moving on! There a greater future awaiting to you ahead!

In contrast to the study of Charles Cooley, where he believed that the other people are the ones that play a significant role on how we view our selves. Mead instead focused on the significant others, the significant people that may influence to our perception of the self and how those people thoughts of us changes across the lifespan. The special people which Mead refers are the closest people to us, most especially our family, relatives, peers and even your loved one. THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE FILIPINO DEMOCRACY | By: Lourenzo Manimtim

THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE FILIPINO DEMOCRACY   By: Lourenzo Manimtim The state of the nation depends on states of citizens, and a nation is governed by leaders and the leaders are elected by the citizens. It is not a very big surprise to see usual the political situation of the Philippines, shown in the media are the rampant cases of corruption, incompetence of leaders, violence, and greed.   Most politicians operate by their own interests, primarily the traditional politicians, the large and corrupt big political families that rule the power and government in our country. And many of these families are fat dynasties, with their greed of power and wealth they leech and drain the country of its resources. But aside from the fat dynasties, there also other ordinary politicians that use their power for their own interests. But amidst the current situation we cannot take for granted that there are also good politicians that loyally serves and loves their country and the society.   But if
