"The Pandemic Address"
By: Lourenzo Gabrielle O. Manimtim
A year and a half ago, our beloved country had been surprised by a
great plague that brought destruction and disaster to our great and humble
nation, conceived in freedom and valor, dedicated to the premise that the
people of this nation are created of love, courage, and strength.
Now we are still engaged in the great mutiny, the invisible war,
challenging whether that this humble nation will live through, brave this great
enmity, and long endure.
At this very moment, we are on the great battlefield of this
unseen war. We have come to be a part of this field, together, with the heroes
— the frontliners, who are giving their lives that this nation will continue
living.
It is altogether fitting
and proper, that we should exalt these heroes with great respect.
The heroes — the frontliners, who are exhausted, from battles that
never end. These champions must be honored and given their benefits. In a
larger sense, heroes should be treated as heroes.
The world should note, and remember what we say here, to never
forget what these brave men and women did in this war, have thus so far bravely
advanced.
It is rather for us to devote the huge responsibility before us —
that from these honored warriors we take increased commitment, to the cause for
which they gave their entire measure of devotion, that we here, highly resolve
that the Heroes’ legacies shall never die in vain.
That this great and humble nation, under God’s divine grace shall
fight the unseen great enmity, conceive love, courage, and strength, and that
the government, of the people, shall take the lead to find and conquer this
hidden war.
